Welcome and thank you for visiting my webpage. My name is Larry Schmaltz, and I am a candidate for the South Dakota House of Representatives, District 28B. I am running because I care deeply about South Dakota and believe practical, experience-based leadership can help our communities remain strong, affordable, and prosperous.

Why I’m Running

South Dakota works best when state government is grounded in real-world experience, fiscal responsibility, and respect for local communities. My background in business and board service has given me a strong understanding of how decisions affect families, landowners, and employers. I want to apply that experience to serve the people of District 28B and the state as a whole.

As your Representative, I will focus on issues that directly impact District 28B and western South Dakota.

Supporting Agriculture

Agriculture is the backbone of western South Dakota’s economy. I support policies that protect farmers and ranchers, strengthen rural communities, and ensure agriculture remains viable for future generations.

Property Tax Relief

Rising property taxes affect families, retirees, and landowners. I will continue working toward meaningful and responsible property tax relief.

Quality Economic Growth

Growth should be thoughtful and sustainable. I support policies that encourage job creation and investment while preserving South Dakota’s quality of life.

Transportation Infrastructure

Reliable transportation is essential for commerce, safety, and rural connectivity. I will advocate for addressing South Dakota’s transportation needs.

Public Safety and Cybercrime

As scams and cybercrime increase, state law enforcement needs the tools and authority to protect citizens. I support strengthening law enforcement’s ability to combat cyber criminals and fraud.
